Development of the compressed flowers idea. (forced into a vac form dome) I feel like on mass, or as a large series these could work really well. Could this be the next stage to the performance? After finishing the cutting and the tidying/sorting of the flowers, could i force them into new forms? What if i were to make different shaped vac form moulds? I will explore this in the future. #Cut #Compress #Fabric #Flowers

Another short performance piece i tried. Not sure about the cutting off of the dress thought. Although i think visually the images are interesting as photos (these are screen shots from a video), i am not sure if the work reads differently to what i would like. Revealing myself... not really what i am after. It could work as a larger narrative perhaps? #Performance #Cut #Video #Fabric #Flowers

Finally had a go at filming myself doing the cutting. I filmed for 1 hour, and i very quickly realised that it definitely had to be a performance piece. The piece needed to last a long time, to show the hours it takes to meticulously cut these flowers out! Durational performance piece? OH MY GOD!!! I cant believe I am thinking about doing performance. Never would i have thought this would happen...ever. Next question, have i got the balls to do it?? #Cut #Video #Fabric #Flowe

Playing with different layouts of fabric pieces i have cut. Creating a space for a practice performance. #Performance #Cut #Video #Fabric #Flowers

I have started to think about the sequences in which i have been doing things. The doing and undoing of things. The taking apart...then putting back together. The making holes...then repairing them. Creating chaos and then sorting back into order. #Thoughts #Fabric #Flowers #Cut #Sequences

Amazing how much practical work you can get done when there is an essay deadline looming. Productive procrastination is my favourite kind of procrastination! Heres a few more experiments, this time trying to tie together some of the digital stitch samples, hand embroidery and the metal. Im very happy with the two larger pieces, where the bolt has been used through the center of the flower to manipulate the finished form of the plaster cast. And i also really like the sample w

Some more metal-y bits i have been working on. I have really enjoyed playing with the rollers as its quite a simple yet really effective way of getting the impression of fabric onto the metals surface, again to confuse the hard/soft qualities of the materials i am using. The wet blaster is also a piece of equipment i could become pretty obsessed with. I particularly like the effect it creates when using it on rusty metal.. It essentially cleans it back to shiny metal. The act
